Fukuoka’s famous “Kappo Yoshida” is renowned for their signature “Snapper Tea Rice (a type of rice soup made with tea)”. Next to it is “Kappo Yoshida Hanare”, a casual walk-in eatery with the same quality as its flagship.

“Hanare”’s feature is their limited “Marinated Snapper Bowl”. Snapper “zuke (marinated sashimi)” is piled on a large bowl of rice; while they only make 15 servings for lunch service, it’s available throughout dinner. The sweet and spicy flavors of the sauce and the firm texture of fresh snapper will make you crave for more rice.

There’s their famous “Snapper Tea Rice” during lunch service, but we also recommend the “Snapper Tea Rice & Tempura Set” if you’re in for a little splurge. Once you’ve eaten half of the “zuke”, place it on top of rice and pour over some tea… This step is part of the dish’s charm. Then you shovel the light pink fish morsels and rice into your mouth!

During dinner service there’s also the “Chicken Hot Pot” course, made with free-range chickens, as well as “Fugu (blowfish) Hot Pot” and “Snapper Shabu Shabu”. You can enjoy Hakata's specialty hot pots, as well as local-caught blowfish and snapper, in tasting menu form. There’s so much on the a la carte menu too. These generations-old standby dishes are worth a try.
