Ukiha-shi located in the east of Chikugo area has been a “Fruit Kingdom” where there have been many fruit farms for a long time. It starts with strawberry picking in January, peaches and blueberries in the summer, pears, grapes, and persimmons in the fall. You can pick various fruits throughout the year.

■Ukiha Fruit Village Yamandon
A tourist farm where you can pick fruit throughout the year.

“Ukiha Fruit Village Yamandon” is one of the most popular farm located on the border of Oita prefecture (Hita-shi). They grow five kinds of fruits, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, pears, and persimmons so you can enjoy picking fruits throughout the year.



Fresh fruit cut right after picking is juicy and fragrant.


“Pear picking” season is early August to November. Admission is 300 yen for adults (200 yen) for children and pears are sold at 650 yen per 1kg.


When we visited in mid-November, it was a season when we could enjoy pear picking and persimmon picking at the same time.




Persimmon picking season is early November to mid-December. Admission is 300 yen for adults (200 yen for children), and persimmons are sold at 550 yen per 1kg.


Fruits are growing in a place where you can reach, but there are ladders available so you can reach persimmons growing high on the tree..




There is a store where you can buy all-you-can-stuff bag and fruit for gifts.


You can enjoy “strawberry picking” from January to May. For 1600 yen for adults and 1300 yen for children, you can eat as many strawberries as you want for 30 minutes. They grow types strawberries such as “Sachinoka” and “Benihoppe”.


Mid-July is the season for “blueberry picking”. You can eat as many blueberries as you want for 600 yen for unlimited time.


Popular “grape picking” is from mid-August to September. The admission is 300 yen and you can buy grapes from 1000 yen per 1kg.


The place you should visit either before or after fruit picking is “Mugoyoka”, a café where you can enjoy sweets with fruit and lunch located in the farm.


Home-made confiture (from 300 yen) made with the fruit grown in the farm are sold here.


Their signature menu is about 50 types of cake made with fruit grown in the farm. “Fruit tart” (370 yen) is not so sweet and you can taste the flavor of the fruit. “Spring water coffee” (470 yen *Cake set is 780 yen) and “Weekly Lunch” (1080 yen) are also popular.


There is a well where you can get delicious spring water that supports the growth of the fruit (100 yen cooperation fee).
